Just a quick post to follow up on my French painter.
After much indecision, I decided to meet him, and one of the girls here was to come along with me to the museum. Things got all higgly-piggly though, and I got to the tube stop a good deal after I should have met him. What with that and not being entirely sure where outside the station he was to have met me, I never found him. So, I just wandered around Tate Britain (figuring I might as well make the most out of my somewhat failed journey). I am growing dull of so much British art I must confess. There were a few cool things though. In the Pre-Raphelite rooms, I recognized the work of Rossetti and Burne-Jones from their style, which made me feel that I've actually been learning something in the Morris class. There was also a great painting that referenced Kasimir Malevich's Black Square. It was a rather large canvas, painted all black, but the texture of the paint had been done in such a way that you could see an entire night time wooded scene. The special exhibition by Eva Rothschild was pretty cool too. Overall though, it was a rather uneventful trip.
