Today was strange and quite varied. After class this morning, I met with Pericles (aka Professor Lewis- though he did give us permission today to call him Pericles) to discuss my paper. I was very scattered, and the conversation wasn't all that helpful, but it started making me narrow my focus which was good. I then took a break and set out for the Institute of Contemporary Art.
ICA turned out to be this converted town house right next to St. James Park and the Duke of York's Steps near the Southbank on The Mall (not Mall St- The Mall). There was one exhibit, with a theater, cafe, venue, and a little shop. I ended up wandering around the park and then on down towards I wasn't quite sure what. One street I happened to pass was called "Birdcage Walk" which was just too awesome. I finally ended up by Westminster, which was really cool. I was consulting my tube map when a guy asked if I could take a photo of him in a phonebooth. I obliged, and then he started talking to me. He was a teacher from New England, and I bored of him quite quickly, but he kept talking to me and trying to tell me how to get back to Russell Square. I finally hopped on the tube on got rid of him.
I worked on my paper for a bit and then we all went to Strada, a nice-ish Italian restaurant nearby, for Mercedes' birthday. The pasta I got was quite spicy, but really good. At the end, we all pitched in so that she didn't pay. When we got back to HPH, we all partook of excellent cupcakes that her mom arranged to have delivered to her. Then it was back to slogging on my paper. It is finally finished now (besides a once over I'll do in the morning). I have to say, even though it was much more difficult than the Morris paper, it was much more enjoyable thinking about The Waste Land for so many hours instead of a piece of stained glass.
Now I'm having biscuits and tea and listening to the buzz from the hall.
